Das internationale Erasmus+-Treffen in Frankfurt


Erasmus+-project BUILDING UP HUMAN VALUES THROUGH ART
Report on the international Erasmus+-meeting in Frankfurt, Germany, February 5th – 11th

Sunday, February 5th
-        Arrival of International groups at Frankfurt International Airport, small tour at the airport, e.g. clerical refugee service of Caritas
-        Host students were welcomed by host families and teachers and received their welcome packages (city maps, public transportation tickets, schedule)
-        Welcome lunch and first getting to know game
-        Small city tour: first impressions of the city of Frankfurt,
-        Students spent the evening with their host families
Monday, February 6th
-        Welcome ceremony at school by principal and school band
-        Information about the week
-        Meeting of international students teams in different prepared rooms (individual material was provided by German team, snacks and drinks), getting together, getting to know games, sharing thoughts and feelings about the human right paragraph the students are working on
-        School tour and view of the exhibition rooms and work places
-        Brainstorming about projects, planning and new input
-        Lunch with all members of the project at nearby university cafeteria, interim evaluation and further planning of the project week
-        Planning of dissemination of the project, e.g. invitation of press to the exhibition (Frankfurter Rundschau), invitation of school community
-        Project work in groups, e.g. cutting of stencils, looking for graphical material and pictures, measurements of the exhibition space, study of lighting conditions, discussions about the project set ups, planning of the exhibition Building Up Human Values Through Art
-        Providing each group with further material
-        Teachers evaluation of the first work day
Tuesday, February 7th
-        Guided tour in English language at the Museum of Modern Art (Museum für Moderne Kunst), Frankfurt, human rights issues presented in contemporary art, collection and special exhibition, focus on photography
-        Workshop at Museum of Modern Art: Creation of photographic picture series focused on human rights issues
-        Lunch at city center: teachers interim evaluation and further planning of the project week, host students guided by German students
-        Group activity: bowling in international teams, team building
-        Teachers evaluation of the first work day
Wednesday, February 8th
-        Project work in groups, further progress of group work, discussions about emerging challenges during the work process, finding creative solutions, out-of-the-box-thinking, sharing different points of view about human rights in and out of the European Union and e.g. change of political situation in UK due to Brexit, refugee topic
-        Cooperation with an A-level-class (intensive course English): project “You must be free to think”)
-        Lunch with all members of the project at nearby university cafeteria, interim evaluation
-        Creating a deeper understanding of human rights through the workshop by Monika Wittkowsky, Amnesty International Frankfurt: students learned about the history of the creation of human rights, learning about the human rights catalog through games, reflection about human rights at each students country, study of human rights cases and presentation of those
-        Intensive work meeting of teachers: further planning of the meeting and the next project meeting in San Javier, Spain; planning of the exhibitions in Frankfurt and San Javier, budget planning, approval of minutes of meeting in Iasi, Romania, reflecting on Twinspace and dissemination, planning of dissemination of exhibition in Frankfurt
Thursday, February 9th
-        Project work in groups: preparation of the exhibition, composition and installation of the exhibition Building Up Human Values Through Art, providing of technical equipment (lights, sound, projectors, screens, laptops and so on)
-        Lunch with members of the project in the city center, teachers: interim evaluation, last discussions about the exhibition set up and students work
-        Big Frankfurt city tour: German students guided the international students and teachers (Alte Oper, Willy-Brandt-Platz, Hauptwache, Thurn-und-Taxis-Palais, Bahnhofsviertel, Eschenheimer Turm, Maintower, Konstablerwache, Römer, … )
-        Presentation of research results of the historical, economical and social aspects of the city by German students (e.g. wage gap, immigrants vs. refugees, gender inequality in financial sector, “the other side of the financial capital of the European Union”)
Friday, February 10th
-        final preparation of the exhibition Building Up Human Values Through Art, final adjustments
-        opening of the exhibition: welcome speech, participating students guided students from the school through the exhibition rooms and explanation of thoughts  about human rights and values
-        interviews by Frankfurter Rundschau (The state of Hesses most read newspaper) about the project and human rights and their meaning for the European Union
-        dissemination work: taking photographs and making videos of the exhibition
-        Lunch at university cafeteria, teachers evaluation of the exhibition, results for final exhibition in San Javier
-        Evaluation of project in project groups through mind maps, individual feedback
-        Goodbye ceremony and handing out of certificates of attendance by school principal
-        Group picture taken
-        Teachers meeting and dinner at an typical German restaurant, planning of final meeting in San Javier
Saturday, February 11th
-        Commemoration tour through Frankfurt: walk to Stolpersteine (German art project by Gunter Demnig that commemorates the victims of national socialism) and memorial site Großmarkthalle (deportation of Frankfurt Jews during 1941-1945)
-        Visiting of the ECB-district, reflection of the European Union between history then and society now (How far have we come in the EU concerning human rights?)
-        Farewell lunch and depart of international students
